THE BEST BETRAYAL

One afternoon, a rainy day, bleak -
the old memories alive, they now speak.
Thoughts of betrayal in my mind race -
we once again sat down face to face.

I am no more now what I once was -
I feel this is what to us betrayal does.
How candy coated lies we were told -
sweet deceptions and heart went cold.

I think, I was, I am a true good friend,
but someone’s loyalty came to an end.
As the smoke-screen faded, it thinned -
on your wall of distrust I got pinned.

People short on stature, for me, stood tall -
smile of cowardice when I took the fall.
Truth though twisted do never break -
Yes, the heart for once turns a wreck.

You saw my innocence, thought me dumb -
like your heartless soul, my senses are numb.
Your true face, I laud you - I still do and I must,
you made me aware how to break one’s trust.
